There are many thousands of such court orders issued each year, and items that can't be returned to their legal owner are auctioned off at local auction houses all over the UK. Police auctions are an established route used by regional police forces across the country to dispose of proceeds of crime, lost and found, seized, and unclaimed stolen and confiscated property.
Police auctions tend to conjure up images of beat up cars confiscated from drug dealers and mint condition police cruisers that—for one reason or another—never saw service. The reality lies somewhere in the middle, and there are some good deals to be had so long as you're careful, and absolutely sure about what you're doing. Let this list be your insurance.

The New York City Police Department regularly holds online auctions to dispose of seized, unclaimed property and vehicles. The Property Clerk Division works with an outside auctioneer, called Property Room, which specializes in items seized by law enforcement agencies across the country. Online auctions include many high-end items, such as jewelry, rare coins, brand-name clothing, and consumer electronics. Vehicles are also available. Participation in online auctions is free and open to the general public.

Keep in mind that tow impound and police auctions in NC & SC have smaller inventories than the larger public auto auctions in NC & SC(click for a list). Contact the auction beforehand to verify when their next sale is scheduled. These auctions are all public and located in North Carolina and South Carolina.
The cash flow from the sale of the District's surplus assets will be deposited directly back into the treasury and re-allocated to departments and programs within the government. The additional revenue will enable the District to more effectively address and meet the expectations of taxpayers. Additional government sites. There are a few additional sites that can provide tips on government auctions. Guide to Federal Auctions gives a rundown of the various agencies. It provides information about what they sell as well as the departments' websites. GSA supplies information about auction sources. Auctions can be searched by state or auction house
Government auctions, held by a local school district, police department, city hall or county administrations, occur when a government entity has surplus, unwanted or unneeded items. Everything from office furniture to overhead projectors and unclaimed bicycles may be found at government auctions. In some locales, auctions are held once or twice a year, while some organizations may hold auctions more frequently. Scan your local free weekly newspaper for news of upcoming government auctions, or look at the bulletin boards in local government buildings where public information is posted. Police auctions sometimes include vehicles and luxury items seized during arrests; these auctions are often advertised in local newspapers or by searching online for local government or police auctions.
DSA has been implementing this strategy through the award of open competition for the recycling of MOD ships. Once the vessel has been completely recycled the DSA produces a ship report detailing the background and management for the dismantling process, including a final outturn against the Inventory of Hazardous Material (IHM) which is used in conjunction with other vessels’ details to better inform us of the final disposal issues relating to ships.

Due to the various governmental units that supply the vehicles for auction, there's no single reason for vehicles being brought to auction. Some of the vehicles are confiscated due to the former owner's involvement in drug dealing, smuggling, or fraud, while other vehicles were simply just abandoned. On exception, separate auctions will sometimes be held for very large seizures.

All purchases must be removed at buyer’s expense and responsibility by appointment only at the auction location in Loveland. Contact Steve Quinn at 303-289-1600 x 104. All tools that may be required for disassembly and removal of auction items is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Please do your due diligence during inspection to determine what will be needed. If you have any questions at all, contact us prior to bidding. All items not picked up by the removal deadline are considered abandoned and bidders may not be permitted to participate in future auctions.
Payment methods. A government auction accepts many modes of payment from credit cards or bank checks to cash. It is recommended to ask the auctioneer about the modes of payment involved before the auction starts. Besides the bidding price of the car, an additional buyer's premium fee is added onto the total. This fee is normally 5 percent of the winning bid
Each of the DSA contracts have been competed through the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) tender procedures, and are regularly audited against strict contractual obligations, and are compliant with environmental and health and safety regulations. These contracts not only supply a collect-to-dispose service, but also offer a wide range of refurbished items for sale and ensure that the minimum of assets enter landfill.

Capital Auto Auction hosts weekly live auctions at each of our four locations, as well as online. Whether you attend a live auto auction or an online auto auction, you'll find quality used vehicles listed at the kind of bargain prices that typically only dealers see. Our vehicles may be repossessions, dealer consignments, government vehicles or donations. In every case, they are auctioned openly to the public so it's easy for customers to find or sell the vehicles they need. What's more, it's not just individual cars that we work with, either; through a fleet auto auction, you have a way to quickly dispose of fleet vehicles you no longer need.

The DSA is a market leader in the environmentally sound recycling of former Royal Navy warships and Royal Fleet Auxiliaries, recycling 24 vessels between 2008 to 2015 which in turn provides an impressive library of the ship reports detailing final disposal routes for all material generated from the recycling of ships. We strive to set an example to other government ship owners through the recycling of ships that are no longer suitable for further use. The UK Ship Recycling Strategy has established domestic policy, for the recycling of UK government owned ships which the DSA implements in full.
