Government auction sites are the best places to compare and review prices impounded cars. GOV-AUCTIONS.org is a great place to start. You can easily find when and where a government car auction is taking place. These places have a huge variety of car types you can choose from. The best thing about buying from a government auction site is many of the cars are two to three years old, and most of them are well maintained. With enough luck, you may be able to find cars that are less than one year old.
Property the government does not need is considered surplus. Personal property includes assets ranging from commonplace office equipment and furniture to more select products like scientific equipment, heavy machinery, airplanes, vessels, and vehicles. If this property cannot be donated to a state or public agency, or nonprofit organization, it is sold to the general public.
Age and nationality requirements. A bidding individual must be at least 18 years old to participate in government car sales. The Enterprise Services Surplus Operations program leads the state’s efforts to redistribute items state agencies, local governments and public organizations no longer need. Although agencies may no longer need these items they may still have usefulness and can be purchased by other government organizations or the public. This allows the state to save taxpayer dollars and resources by extending the life of items and minimizes the amount of waste sent to landfills.
Certified checks, bank drafts, and debit cards with dollar limitations and/or PIN Number requirements, are not acceptable. All checks and money orders must be made payable to GSA. It is the policy of the Longmont Police Department to allow a finder of property to claim found property. Every attempt will be made to locate the rightful owner. However a finder may claim found property, which will be available 60 days after the advertised date. The finder must make the request in writing. There are auction homes where you can go and bid for the important things of your taste. The auction homes have a calendar holding the sale on a specific style. You have to send information such as name, address, phone number and banking or credit info as is defined by the salesroom where you are going to bid. A special number, referred to as the Customer Number, is going to be allocated to you. A paddle is a plastic card bearing a number that is signed up at the auction. The paddle is raised to bid and the auctioneer calls out the paddle variety of the effective bidder at the time of offering each lot. When the gavel falls the auctioneer reveals the hammer rate. The hammer cost is the last quote rate, which does not consist of a purchaser’s premium. The purchaser’s premium is the cash that is paid independently by the purchaser to the auction house. It is a portion of the last quote rate.

Non profits groups must be classified as tax exempt under section 501(c) of the United States tax code and possess a current business license issued from the licensing authority in your state.  The intent of sales to non profits is that no one individual is to profit from the purchase.  By participating in this sales process, you are attesting that your purchase of this equipment is intended for the use of the nonprofit organization. The State of Alaska reserves the right to suspend sales to non profit organizations violating this clause.
Police auctions tend to conjure up images of beat up cars confiscated from drug dealers and mint condition police cruisers that—for one reason or another—never saw service.
